Lowlug Castle Layout

I’ve a thing for huge castle layouts… so obviously this is too nice for me to resist posting.  This is the Lowlug castle layout at LEGO fanwelt in Cologne.  Enjoy.

Some MOCs I Like

What a crummy Monday… and thank goodness for a short week ahead (Wednesday is a public holiday in Singapore for Hari Raya Haji).

Quite a bonaza of MOCs that caught my eye.  Enjoy…

***********************************************

This Halo Master Chief Helmet looks very much like what I see from the game.  In Benny Brickster‘s description “it is made completely out of Lego except for the visor, which is a modified motorcycle helmet visor”.  He seems to be keen on making an entire costume out of LEGO which makes me wonder how he’ll move in the costume without it breaking into pieces… or for the matter move around surrounded by a few kg of LEGO bricks…

One look at the thumbnail and I guessed this must be another entry in Castle Castle’s competition.  Castle Hadrian is  busboy489‘s entry in the  “Realistic Castle” Category of CCCVIII.

Does Kosaka-10 mean anything to you? It doesn’t, but this creation by tkh reminds me of those ‘strange’ anime displays I see in some toy stores.  By ‘strange’, I mean… erm… y’know, let’s move on…

You like flying blimps?  I think I’ve a soft spot for them…  Shamisenfred‘s “CONDOR” ostrichean smuggler is an example.

This Huge Persian Market by Brian Lyles looks fantastic. I know I don’t visit MOCpages enough and I certainly should more often with creations like this… do visit the page for more pics of the marketplace: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/235718.  So… more POP sets anyone? 😛

Continuing the somewhat Asian theme, this gorgeous Kasbah at Deir-az-Zur by davekaleta is built for the “Swords and Sorcery” final round of the MOC Olympics at www.mocpages.com/group.php/12864.

This Homage to H.P.Lovecraft by Mr. Xenomurphy looks deliciously spooky… and twisted. I’m sure it’s intentional cos it’s in the 3rd round of the Dem Bones Haunted Halloween Contest for Haunted House. Again… great presentation here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/236388.

Haven’t had a nice piratey MOC for a while. Luke WatkinsRocky Reef Hideout looks great. I really like the rickety bridges.

GYUTA continues  his streak of transformable MOCs with this Transformer: Barricade. And another video below.

Some MOCs I Like

Here are some nice creations for your inspiration.

King of Diamonds by Marin Stipkovic looks amazing.  Really impressive piece of work.

All The Kings Horses by Shmails is an entry over at Classic Castle’s CCCVIII Pastoral Life Category – I like how the action is represented by splashings in the water.  Personally, I love building competitions… there’s always an outpouring of creative MOCs when there are competitions.

Wallace & Gromit by  MisaQa is spot on

I like how the LED lighting is used to give a fiery effect… Station on Fire by rack911

For Star Wars fan, here is the Cantina by  Roland :: Nienke

Remember the wall-E I featured the other day? GYUTA wows us next with this One Touch Transformable RC Tank.  According to him “It tranforms with just one touch from a tank to a robot, and vice versa. Also, this vehicle can be driven by LEGO RC controller, whatever its form is, a robot or a tank. If you want to watch the transform process, visit my youtube channel below” (ok, embedded so it’s easier for you) 😉

K, mission accomplished.  Time to play!

Some MOCs I Like

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been really busy at work and that means less time on other stuff, blogging included.  I think with my weekend bout of posts I’ve kinda made up for some ‘lost time’, except for featuring MOCs.  Come to think about it, the french mani did help in other ways – since I couldn’t build I had a bit more time to blog over the weekend…

Anyway, quite a number of MOCs that caught my eye these few days.  Here they are:

1st up, a few by psiaki – really impressive village coming up… :

T-Rex & Jeep

Village

Excellent photography of Preserve-O-Matic by powerpig. He built this for Gizmodo’s Food Week and it accompanied an article called 10 Teched-Out Techniques for Saving Food.

Vincent Kessels shares this very impressive layout at Legoworld 2010 by French Lego User Group (FreeLUG).

And last but not least for fans of Halo here is Scorpion Tank by Benny Brickster

I’ve seen some really nice Halloween themed MOCs but am too tired to add them today.  Will do a mass feature soon so stay tuned! 🙂

Huge Harry Potter Hogwarts Castles

Thanks to Leper who so kindly shared his finds in my earlier post about , here are some ‘inspiration’ for those looking to DIY a bigger Hogwarts castle.

By lego_tohst: (and he has a pretty stunning Star Wars collection too)

And while this is still WIP, I think the end result by Allan Hall will be pretty stunning:

Here’s Allan’s earlier version:

News of 2011 City Harbour and medieval windmill sets

Ferdik from EB shared some news of new 2011 themes and sets. The medieval windmill sounds great.

Harbour
* Lighthouse – with some water and a minifig. Quite small and look marvelous!

*City Harbor – Like the old one but smaller, the freight ship got shorter hull. Looking good.

*Marina – a litte shop, a surfbaord and and one or two small civilan boats. Not many parts, shop look more like a backdrop.

* Boat transport – Great looking truck with “new” bus front window. A yacht on the trailer. Great!

Not City but could appeal to city fans.
* Creator House. New white house, red roof. Quite boring architecture. The garden got a little slope (brickbuilt) and the house got stairs to the front door. Also including a small garage with a car. Minifig included.

Kingdom. A medieval windmill! New paint on animals. Dots on grey horse and on white pigs. Great Looking!

A Couple of MOCs

Some were blogged on other sites but heck I’ll still blog about them cos they look gorgeous.

Something for dessert perhaps? How about Chocolate Cake by Profound Whatever?

If you are in the mood for celebration then Mardi Gras by Brickbaron is a fantastic creation with nearly 600 minifigs. It also won “Best in Show” and “Best in Town” for Brickcon 2010.

Techic Dragonfly by arcanemettles looks deceptively simple, but it actually moves.

80’s Audio Tape by LegoManiac (LEGO13 manager) brings back some memories.  Remember those days when you get music compilations on tapes rather than an MP3 compilation?

To end this feature, pls enjoy this lovely castle creation by Derfel Cadarn.  His creations are always amazingly detailed with lush landscaping, textured walls, intricate details… I can go on but you should probably visit his Flickr page to see for yourself.

Unless my workload eases up, I suspect a lot less postings the next few weeks.  😦  Rather than checking for updates, an easier way is to subscribe to my blog (widget’s on the right). You’ll get an email notification when there’s a new post.
