My new Ninjago money bank

Finally got one. Popped by the Toysrus near my office and got a ‘ninja’ for home. Side-by-side with my megafig for scale comparison:

If you are curious, the legs are fixed and can’t be moved to ‘sitting position, and the hood cannot be removed.  The coin slot is near the top just at the back of the ‘head’, and the cover (to retrieve coins) is at the bottom of one of the legs.  Here’s the selection at the TRU that I visited:

Some stationery spotted in Hong Kong

Think these are new but I can’t be sure since I am honestly slightly out of touch (only slightly cos I do know about all the major new sets…).

Anyways, in case you are going to Hong Kong, you can look out for them in Toysrus (TRU).  Since I didn’t have the chance to check out any other stores, not sure if the little hobby stores would carry stationery too.

Ninjago Drink Bottle – SKN# 959693  / HKD79.90

Ok, a few others that I am lazy to add cos I don’t find them very interesting… colour pencils, activity books and the like. You may want to pop by the HK TRU site to see more: LINK

Is this a new series of “megafig” money banks?

As soon as I saw the pic in the local Toysrus (TRU) catalog when I visited Hong Kong, I wanted one.  Unfortunately the stock had not arrived when I left Hong Kong. TRU calls it the “LEGO Ninjago Collectible Money Bank”.  Measures 34 cm according to an eBay listing.  Will be great for displays or as presents for little (or bigger) boys. I can only hope that we’ll get it in Singapore soon, and have more designs to pick from… Imagine a clone trooper version. The SW fans will go crazy…

New LEGO books and exclusive minifigs

UPDATE on 10 March: Via Brickset, here’s the PDF version of a Dorling Kindersley catalogue that has revealed several other LEGO book releases including jacket designs and some inside pages.  New books include the revised The LEGO Book, a Friends Brickmaster (with exclusive Chloe minifig).

—————-

Hey, a couple of new books and some surprises, for me at least.   I mean, I really didn’t expect the LEGO Batman: The Visual Dictionary and LEGO Ninjago Character Encyclopedia.  There aren’t that many Batman sets anyway, right?   They should be accompanied by ‘exclusive’ minifigs like the other books in the series I guess…

These below are on DK’s Winter 2012 Catalog, and mostly listed on Amazon so no surprises.  Another ‘exclusive’ minifig is always nice, tho I could do with another Harry Potter character rather than Harry (again! wonder which costume tho).  There is also Cool Castles by Sean Kenney, but to be honest given the regularity at which I see fantastic castle MOCs it’ll take quite a bit for me to be impressed.

Hi-res pics of 2012 sets

Ok, admittedly I’ve been lazy. I actually saw them yesterday.  But since they are all over the web by now I’ve a feeling most people have seen them?  Some thoughts on the sets (and links to sources):

  • Collectible Minifig series 7 looks good! Even tho I’m kinda over the novelty, I’ll still get at least a set for collection.
  • Batcave looks… colourful. I prefer the darker looking 1st batcave. Plus I hate stickers.
  • Ninjago sets are still too targetted to boys for me. I may get a few sets selectively, but no more than that.
  • Star Wars is a mixed bag.  Looking forward to getting a Jabba for sure.
  • Dino I will skip. Not sure how dinos will fit with my generally city themed sets and I didn’t miss the 1st incarnation anyway.
  • City sets are kinda bleh. Great for saving some $ in 2012 unless H2 gives us some new themes (hospital?). If not I’ll skip the City sets and save my money for…
  • Spongebob. I know… but the sets look good. Such a cute little pirate ship.
  • And Friends! I know… I’m wimpy and a sucker for the accessories.
  • I might skip Cars… tho they continue to look enticingly cute.  There are just too many sets and I’m not sure if I wanna start another series.
  • Am not a Technic person but the 2012 sets seem to be getting some good vibes.

Do click on the links above for the pics. I’ll just share the MF7 cos that thrilled me the most from all the pics I saw. Think cos I saw the earlier leaked catalogue so most of the other hi-res pics were not a surprise. 😛

Looking for Ninjago sets barcodes?

Update on 12 May:

Hi people, I think the repeated questions are getting out of hand. Two simple rules:

– Any comments with more than 3 exclamation marks will be deleted.
– Any questions repeated more than once by the same person will be deleted.

If you ignore them, you will be blacklisted

Hey people, you can see more pics of the LEGO sets HERE okDon’t just use the barcodes, you should check out the sets too. 🙂

UPDATED: Thanks to Legomom for the Fire Temple barcode. 🙂

UPDATED: Thanks to dawgman20 for the Blacksmith barcode. 🙂

So was I.  If you are, then hope you like these.  Thanks to dawgman20 who pointed out that the barcodes are available online.  I got a brainwave to create barcodes using one of those free barcode sites.  Tested most of them so these DIY barcodes do work.  In case of any typos tho, let me know k?

Try the new free LEGO Ninjago game on iPhone

The latest Ninjago themed release is available for download free from the Apple app store, and is really not too shabby for a free game… that is, until you are asked to scan barcodes.

No, not kidding, you are supposed to look for sets containing certain weapons or parts and scan their barcodes.  I suppose that’s why it’s called LEGO Ninjago Spinjitzu Scavenger Hunt huh?  Not so fun when you don’t have all the sets lying around tho.  If this game does take off, I predict lots of little kids (and some embarrassed adults) standing around the LEGO aisles furiously jabbing at their iPhones.

Here are some screen shots.

Happy playing!
