DIY LED Street Lights

I don’t think I trust myself with a drill to DIY street lights like what F0NIX from EB has done. But I think it looks great:

Erm, for the technically inclined…

But I have bought 200 lamp post 2x2x7 (part 2039) in white, trans clear minifig heads and 2×2 radar dish, to complete the construction.

Then I took a 2mm drill and made a hole from top to bottom. Bought a 3mm LED (this was a 3.2v 20mA 2000mcd Ultra Brigth White LED) and some thin wires. I cut a 9v LEGO electric wire with connectors in half and soldered a 470ohm resistor in series on one of the lead from the LED, the other straight on the other 9V leads. This is the final assembly:”

Umm… don’t understand… so pls don’t ask me any technical questions!  You can refer to his EB post and more pics in his brickshelf.

A Couple of MOCs

Some were blogged on other sites but heck I’ll still blog about them cos they look gorgeous.

Something for dessert perhaps? How about Chocolate Cake by Profound Whatever?

If you are in the mood for celebration then Mardi Gras by Brickbaron is a fantastic creation with nearly 600 minifigs. It also won “Best in Show” and “Best in Town” for Brickcon 2010.

Techic Dragonfly by arcanemettles looks deceptively simple, but it actually moves.

80’s Audio Tape by LegoManiac (LEGO13 manager) brings back some memories.  Remember those days when you get music compilations on tapes rather than an MP3 compilation?

To end this feature, pls enjoy this lovely castle creation by Derfel Cadarn.  His creations are always amazingly detailed with lush landscaping, textured walls, intricate details… I can go on but you should probably visit his Flickr page to see for yourself.

Unless my workload eases up, I suspect a lot less postings the next few weeks.  😦  Rather than checking for updates, an easier way is to subscribe to my blog (widget’s on the right). You’ll get an email notification when there’s a new post.

A Couple of MOCs for Guys…

A few macho macho MOCs to end the week…

MTAC-90i ‘Bison’ by The Brothers Merz looks gorgeous…

Motorcycles by aktuaroslo looks amazingly real…

Voltes V by tkh appears to be not just a nice looking robot… transforming robots are always cool.

Finally, a tank! To be honest tho, while the M1128 Stryker Mobile Gun System by ShôçkAñdAwé seems to be a nice tank – since I’m not a military weaponary person I’m not sure how accurate it is. But with the initials being MGS, I think it’s a sign that I should be blogging about it. 😛

Some very technical sounding info from its’ creator: “The M1128 is the MGS variant of the Stryker armored vehicle. The M1128 features a M68A1 105mm main cannon, an M2 .50 caliber MG, and a coaxial M240C MG. The principal function of the MGS is to provide rapid and lethal direct fire to support assaulting infantry”.

So there you go, the 1st tank MOC featured. Haha. 😀

A Couple of Recent MOCs I Like

Espana Corner by andybear@hk looks really great. I especially like the sliding doors and roof. It comes with interiors too, so do visit Andy’s flickr page or brickshelf to see even more great stuff.

I am really impressed by all his town MOCs!  After browsing his brickshelf, he’s become one of my favourite builders and yet another one of those masters with drool worthy town layouts…

Corridor 2.0 by L D M uses a mirror and looks really good. Made me realise tho that I can’t remember enough of my physics to figure out how it’s done. 😛

I’ve been interested in  torgugick‘s St. Basil’s Cathedral for a while (WIP pics were out a few weeks back). It looks completed now and it looks great! Do pop by his Flickr and check out his White House, Angkor Wat, Mont St Michel and other gems. Talk about have a ‘landmark’ collection!

For something quite different, here’s Weird-War German “Vernichtungsläufer” by  Titolian. Am impressed by the fact that it only took half an hour to build!

Note to liquidor515: Umm… still no tanks yet… but here’s a step in that direction. 😛

Some Sunshine to Chase Away Monday Blues

As promised, a few summer-y MOCs to help chase away the Monday Blues…

Skier by JETfri

I’m not quite sure why skier is trying surfing, but the wave looks good. In fact, I kinda wish he would re-create the Charlie’s Angels scene in the movie where Cameron Diaz was surfing.

Lego Mini Train by akunthita

Nice huh? I have the same creator set too, but I wouldn’t have thought to build carts for it, or even special rails for it to run on.

Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra) Lego Style by akunthita

While checking out akunthita’s Flickr, I saw this and thought it looks amazing.

Baywatch by stoomgek

Ok, this is my last attempt to chase away Monday blues. If this doesn’t work, pls go play with some bricks (or Pamela Andersons) of your own.  😛

Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix

I’m not a Formula 1 fan, but the stunning backdrop – the entire Singapore city centre, never fails to wow me when I see it.  You can judge for yourself…

Oh, and it’s today btw. In fact happening right now as I’m typing…

The 1st pic is an official wallpaper from the 2010 Singapore F1 website, and the 2nd pic is from Vince Golango’s blog.

The Singapore F1 is the 1st and only night race in the F1 circuit, and started in 2008.  Which is a good thing actually cos any later, and it would be quite hard to get the Ferrari sets which I managed to acquire.

You see, I got a few Ferrari sets so I can have my very own street circuit in my Lego town…

Need more info on the sets? Here’s the link to Brickset’s entries for Ferrari Racer sets.

I meant to add some nice Lego F1 street circuit layouts, but unfortunately I couldn’t find any.  If you have seen one before, pls send me the link k?

Ok, I can switch TV channels now… I’ve been insisting on switching the TV to the ‘live’ show tho I’m not a F1 one (my bf wonders why) to get some inspiration for this post.   😛
