TRU Truck (7848) in Singapore

$59.90 for the truck. Happy shopping! 🙂

Update: In my excitement forgot to add that the 8404 Public Transport is S$169.90 and ultramanbc from the local forum also updated that TRU Exclusive Hero Factory (had no idea since I didn’t even look at Hero Factory shelf… 😛 ) 7179 Duncan Bulk vs. Vapour is S$49.90.

I think someone will ask so I might as well say here… I got 2 boxes of the TRU Truck. Still fairly affordable. The Public Transport set… erhhhh need to “forget” about my major spend last Friday 1st.

2010 Kingdoms Advent Calendar Review (7952)

SPOILERS ALERT!

The Cobra from EB has shared the long awaited (for me anyways) review of 7952 Kingdoms Advent Calendar.  Most interesting factoid? No ‘made in China’ print on the box!

The review is part of the Eurobricks Reviewers Academy second anniversary celebration and the other great reviews are:

Finally some interesting stuff after DAYS of nothing… no leaked sets, no official releases, no ‘wow’ MOCs. 😛

I did have fun reading the reviews so go ahead and click on the links k? 🙂

iPhone apps for the AFOL

Getting an iPhone has made a noticeable difference to my lifestyle.  Being addicted to it aside, there are a number of useful apps for AFOLs that I would like to share here.

  1. This is not an app in that sense. I love Safari browser for giving me the freedom to surf the internet on the go. I do visit online forums and check my blog (stats) more often too. Only problem is typing is very fiddly and sometimes I can’t even read what I’ve typed.
  2. WordPress app gives me the freedom to blog on the go, as you may have noticed. It’s much easier to snap a few quick (well, and often blurry) photos for a quick post.  Much easier to check for new comments too.
  3. Apart from Mobile Brickset, there is now a iBrickset app. The problem is, the iBrickset app doesn’t seem to be able to show more than 200 sets owned at any time (I have over 800).  But I do find it really useful to be able to check from Brickset online using Safari if I already have a certain set when I go shopping.
  4. Proboards, which is where my local Lego forum is hosted on supposedly has an app. Unfortunately that is not available in Singapore currently.
  5. Lego Photo allows you to make quick mosiacs of photos. Free too.
  6. PhotoFunia is a fairly fun photo software that has one effect called (what else?) – Lego. It shows a guy doing a Lego mosiac and the effect is really quite real looking.
  7. BrickJournal has an app but so far nothing interesting.

So of the above, I would recommend Lego Photo and WordPress app (if you blog). The rest aren’t there yet… and basically can just use Safari browser. Many websites (e.g. Eurobricks) also have a mobile browser functionality.

Do you have more apps to share? If yes, pls share by leaving a comment!

My Pizza Corner update

Life’s like that… you think you’re done with the MOC, start taking and editing photos, and then… sudden inspiration strikes and you re-build and have to start the photo taking all over again…

I’m referring to modularising the Pizza store from the City Corner of course. Oh well, guess will share photos next week then. Not upset at all cos I think the new tweaks make the pizzeria so much better. In fact I like it better than the modular town hall – probably has to do with having more food places for my legolings.

In the meantime, a pic to whet your appetite. 😀

Harry Potter 2010 Prices

Prices for Harry Potter 2010 are out on Bricksworld website  (thanks to ‘chongcheng’ from the S0937 forum for the info) and I must say… the prices take my breathe away…

I know the prices would have gone up from prior years, but considering how strong the Sing dollar is now on the forex market, I would expect at least some currency adjustment… looks like I might be shipping them in… but we’ll see… If I rem correctly, the previous castle was RRP at S$199.90.

Since I missed most of the previous sets, this series is gonna burn a BIG hole in my pocket. *Sigh* 😦

So, 2010 prices as follows / Update – US$ prices from Brickipedia thanks to BT 🙂 :

  • 4756 – Dobby’s Release: S$25.90 /US$9.99
  • 4737 – Quidditch Match: S$49.90 (I need 2!) / US$19.99
  • 4738 – Hagrid’s Hut: S$99.90 / US$39.99
  • 4840 – The Burrow: S$140.90 (I need 2!) / US$59.99

Lost track of time

Lost track of time. 4 am! Am so going to regret this tomorrow… Anyway mostly done I think. So I should be able to clear the building mess on the floor unless I start on the next MOC.
